“THE UGANDA YOUTH COALITION FOR SDGS INAUGURATES ITS FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT IN HISTORIC MILESTONE”

by Maurine Tukahirwa

30th November, 2023, stands etched in the memories of youth and the entire SDG #Action Movement as a pivotal day. To the Gender Equality and Women Empowerement Cluster in the Coalition, it symbolized a significant leap forward for #SDG5 Gender Equality and Women Empowerment—a moment when Her Excellency Nassali Aminah assumed the presidency of the Uganda Youth Coalition for SDGs, marking the first female president since its inception.

Four years after its establishment, the Uganda Youth Coalition for SDGs undertook a progressive stride toward ensuring gender equality by advocating transitional leadership and nurturing an environment conducive to decision-making.

At the Annual General Meeting, delegates from the UN Family, led by the UN Head of Communications, Mr. Michael Wangusa, and representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister, headed by Mr. Pascal Byarugaba from the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, witnessed this transformative transition. An annual workplan was presented and discussed by the Members for adoption.
